Plastiq is one of the remaining options for comleting minimum spend requirements. It enables you to pay rent, mortgage, bills and services that you would be able to pay with a credit cards otherwise. Recently American Express stopped processing payments with Plastiq, and that was an issue for many because spending through other avenues is risky business with Amex cards. That was short lived thankfully and now American Express is an option once again, but with limitations.
Using Amex Cards With Plastiq
You can now use Amex cards again on Plastiq, but you are limited to payments in these categories only:
- Residential Rent
- Government Payments
- Education
- Utilities
- Club fees and memberships
That leaves out mortgage payments, which was a super easy way for those with mortgages to complete minimum spend requirements for Amex credit card bonuses.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
Paying through Plastiq doesn’t always make sense since they charge a 2.5% fee for credit cards and 1% for debit cards. So it’s usually more about being an easy option than a profitable one. It’s good to see Amex cards being accepted again.
If you’ve never tried Plastiq you can sign up through my referral and you get $500 in free spending when you make a payment of $500.
