Chase is already one of the most stringent credit card issuers and has been taking steps to limit credit card bonuses. Now they have made yet another change, this one just for the Sapphire cards, for now. Signup bonuses for all Sapphire cards are limited to one per 48 months, up from 24 months.
Here’s what it reads in the new terms:
The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
For now you can still apply with the 24 month limitation, if you are eligible for the bonus, through referrals. They are still showing the old terms for both Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred.
This loophole might not last long and we could see the same rules extended to other Chase cards.
