Do You Have Both IHG Cards? You Can Stack Free 4th Night and 10% Discount

Chase recently released the new IHG Rewards Club Premier Card. It replaced the older Chase IHG Rewards Club Select card. But the older version is still out there, although you can no longer apply for it. People who had it were given the option to upgrade for a small bonus of 5,000 points. I’m sure many didn’t take up Chase on that offer and still have the old IHG card.

But, having the older version didn’t prevent you from applying for the new card. So it’s possible to have both Chase IHG cards at the same time. If you do have both cards, you can actually stack two of the perks that each one offers. Miles to Memories confirms that the following perks on each card can be used on the same booking:

  • Old IHG Card – Automatic 10% point rebate on redemptions, up to 100,000 points each year
  • New IHG Premier Card – Fourth reward night free on point redemptions of four or more nights

That means that if you book a four night stay at a 50K/night hotel, you would only use up 135,000 points instead of 200,000. That’s after a 50K saved with the fought night free and 15K rebate on the 150K points you use.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

Stacking both perks is working for now but I doubt it will last for long. If you have both cards then this is worth keeping in mind.

Let me know if you’ve been able to profit from stacking these two benefits.
