Pay Rent With Credit Cards Again Through RadPad

Back in October of 2016 RadPad announced it was shutting down its rent payment service and was going out of business. In January of this year the LA start-up found itself some new owners. Dallas-based LandlordStation purchased them for an undisclosed price. LandlordStation, which provides tenant screening, felt that RadPad complemented its business.  They said RadPad site would be kept much the same and a few remaining employees will be joining the new company, which would keep its name.

Now it is back.

What’s the deal with RadPad? Even though RadPad charged a 2.99% fee for rent payments made by credit card, it was a good avenue to rack up points or complete spending requirements. One of the biggest draws was that the Chase Sapphire Reserve card was coding at travel (3x UR points) when used on RadPad app through ApplePay or AndroidPay.

For any other credit card, you’re probably better off using Plastiq with a 2.5% fee and also has a fee-free spending promo if you sign up right now.

The RadPad app is available again and you can once again make payments. ApplePay or AndroidPay are still listed as payment options, but I tested the latter and it gave me an error. Maybe they still have kinks to work out.

You can still use your old credentials to log in. They also till have your rent and credit card information in there even though in their shutdown announcement they said payment accounts will be deleted at the end of October 2016.

Keep in mind that towards the end people starting experiencing lots of problems while paying their rents. Checks were bouncing and their customer service wasn’t very responsive. But they’re under new owners now, so it might be different.

Are you willing to give them an other try?
