You Can Now Use Your AmEx At As Many Places as Visa, Mastercard
After years of trying to persuade more of America’s 30 million small businesses to accept its cards as payment, AmEx in 2019 reached “virtual parity” coverage with Visa and Mastercard in the U.S., said American Express Co. Chief Executive Officer Steve Squeri. Read more here.
Delta will ditch the uniforms many employees call ‘toxic’
Delta Air Lines plans to replace the uniforms that hundreds of its employees complain are causing health problems. The uniforms, worn by Delta’s flight attendants, gate agents and other customer service employees in airports, are made by Lands End. The uniforms have been in use since May 2018, although some workers who complained about health problems were given permission to wear other, similar-looking clothing. Read more here.
Marriott’s Elimination Of Annual Elite Nights For Meetings Is Retroactive
People signed meeting contracts in late 2019 to earn their 10 elite nights at the beginning of 2020. Members are on the hook to pay for these meetings, but Marriott won’t honor 10 elite nights for members who signed contracts when this was still a published benefit. Read more here.
Man wearing gas mask panics passengers on Texas flight
A man wearing a gas mask was escorted off a commercial American Airlines flight Thursday after causing a panic. Flight 2212 was scheduled to leave DFW International Airport just before 7 p.m. Thursday but took off 50 minutes late. It arrived at 9:07 p.m. at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Airbus to Pay Record $4 Billion to End Global Bribery Probe
Airbus has agreed to pay a record $4 billion to settle a global bribery probe, freeing the aerospace giant to press its advantage over struggling rival Boeing Co. Airbus used bribes in 16 countries including Japan, Russia and China to boost profits by 1.05 billion euros ($1.2 billion), Jean-Francois Bohnert, a prosecutor at France’s Parquet National Financier, said at a hearing where a French judge approved the deal. British and American authorities have also reached preliminary agreements with Airbus and these are set to be approved later Friday. Read more here.
