Chase Matching Recent Approvals to New Freedom Offer for 5X on Groceries
Chase has improved the welcome offers for the two Freedom credit cards. Besides $200 welcome bonus that was available until now, they are also offering 5% on grocery purchases during the first year. This is limited to just $12,000. The 5X earning on groceries is part of the welcome bonus and as such it only applies to new applications. This means that if you recently applied for the Chase Freedom or the Chase Freedom Unlimited card, you are not getting this extra perks for the first year.
However you can still contact Chase and see if they can extend it to you. There are some positive data points on reddit that show that Chase reps are able to add the 5% cash back on grocery store purchases on up to $12,000 spent in the first year. Remember that this does not include Target or Walmart purchases. Some others were not as lucky, but it is definitely worth sending a message if you applied for the $200 offer only.
