Chase has improved the welcome offers for the two Freedom credit cards. Besides $200 welcome bonus, you can also get 5% on grocery purchases during the first year. This is limited to just $12,000. The 5X earning on groceries is part of the welcome bonus and as such it only applies to new applications.

If you have been thinking of applying for these cards, then this is a good time to do so. However, you can still get better bonuses with other credit cards, even if they have an annual fee. You can then downgrade to Chase Freedom.
