Targeted Offers for Chase Cards That Bypass 5/24
Update (Jun. 7, 2021) – More people are seeing these targeted offers today, including the new 100K offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Original article (Jan 19, 2019) – If you have had your eyes on any Chase cards that are limited by the 5/24 rule, check out your accounts online for possible targeted offers. Many people are seeing offers for cards like Chase Sapphire Preferred or even Freedom and Freedom Unlimited.
You can find these offers after you log into your Chase account. At the top of the page, click ‘Open an account’ and then click on ‘Just for you’. You should also see many offers to refer your friends. But you should be looking for signup bonuses for your favorite cards, that come with a fixed APR.
You can also check under Credit Cards. Some people can see offers that say “You’re already approved”.
Chase won’t approve you for some cards if you’ve applied for more than five new cards in the last two years and the cards mentioned above fall under that 5/24 rule. These “Selected For You” offers usually bypass the 5/24 rule, so it’s a good opportunity to apply and get the bonus for cards that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise.
But getting past the 5/24 rule is not the only restriction you have to worry about nowadays. You’re allowed only one card per family for every 48 months. So if you have received a bonus on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card within the 48 months for example, you cannot get a bonus for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
