Amex Targets Platinum Cardholders with Free Guest Access at Centurion Lounges?
American Express started limiting lounge access this month for guests of Platinum cardholders. Since February 1, 2023, each guest costs $50 or $30 for children ages 2 through 17. If you spend $75,000 or more on eligible purchases on your card during a calendar year you will receive complimentary guest access for up to two guests per visit for that calendar year plus the next year and through the end of January of the following year.
But they are now sending out emails to some consumer and business cardholders to let them know that they can continue to bring in guests for free for one more year.
In appreciation for being a valued American Express® Platinum Card Member, your account is now eligible to enjoy complimentary guest access for up to two guests for no fee each time you visit The Centurion Lounge through 1/31/2024, subject to space availability.
It’s not clear how the selection process works. Maybe it’s random? Maybe they’re going by total Platinum card spend during the previous year? or maybe by total spend on consumer Platinum cards or Business Platinum cards.
Check your emails or check your Platinum card’s tracker in the benefits list to see if you are targeted.
How do I check for this? Just look out for the email?
