American Express Expands The Global Lounge Collection with New Partnerships
On July 1, American Express announced big changes to the Amex Platinum Card and the addition of the $179 CLEAR credit to the Business Platinum card. Part of that announcement was also the expansions of the Centurion lounge collection, mainly due to rebranding of existing airport lounges. There are also changes in guest access and lower fees for children.
U.S. Platinum and Business Platinum Card Members will now have access to even more airport lounges and premium amenities when they travel. The newly expanded lounge collection includes:
- Escape Lounges: The Centurion® Studio Partner: Escape Lounges across the U.S. will be updated and cobranded as Escape Lounges – The Centurion Studio Partner, in collaboration with Escape Lounges, a Global Lounge Collection partner. Card Members will have access to complimentary premium bar1 and snack selections and The Centurion® Lounge Digital Library, a digital library of premium newspapers and magazines, in addition to the full menu and bar available. Platinum and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card Members will receive complimentary access.
- Expanded Centurion Lounge Network: Platinum and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card Members will now have access to more than 40 Centurion Lounges and Studio locations worldwide. American Express’ proprietary network of American Express International Lounge locations will be converted into Centurion Lounges. Guest Access and Reduced Rates for Children
As it was previously announced, American Express will axe guest access to Centurion Lounges in 2023. Now American Express is changing its Centurion Lounge guest access policy. Starting February 1, 2023, U.S. American Express Platinum and Business Platinum Card Members, and the Additional Platinum Card Members on their accounts, will be charged a $50 fee for each guest aged 18 or over that they bring into select Centurion® Lounge locations. Card Members with children aged two through 17 (with proof of age) will be charged $30 per child.
Card Members can earn complimentary guest access for up to two guests per visit by spending $75,000 or more on eligible purchases on their Card Account each year, beginning in calendar year 2022, and in each calendar year thereafter. This guest policy change applies to all U.S. locations of The Centurion Lounge, the London Heathrow (LHR) location and the Hong Kong (HKG) location. Guest access policies are subject to change.
