Chase will discontinue the current IHG Rewards credit card and will introduce two new cards, including a Premier offering. The news broke out earlier today when Doctor of Credit posted that the official link for the current Chase IHG card was no longer working. There’s been speculation that Chase would be releasing two new IHG cards, but today there’s also confirmation for those cards, based on a picture posted by Straight to the Points (including image of card below).
Chase IHG Premier Credit Card
The signup bonus is 80,000 IHG Rewards points when you spend $2,000 within three months of account opening. That’s the same bonus that mark mentioned in his post earlier. You will also get 5,000 bonus points if you add an authorized user within 3 months of opening the card. But here’s some more benefits that will come with this new premium card.
- 10,000 bonus points after you spend $20,000 and make one additional purchase each cardmember year
- Annual free night certificate at “eligible” hotels worldwide
- 10X points per dollar at IHG
- 2X points per dollar at gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants
- Platinum Elite Status
- 20% discount on purchases of IHG points
- Fourth Reward Night Free when you redeem points for any stay of 4 nights or more
- Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee credit every 4 years
- 5,000 bonus points if you add an authorized user within 3 months of opening the card
- No foreign transaction fees
- $89 annual fee
Chase IHG Credit Card
I’m not sure what this credit card will be called, and there’s no confirmation on its details. But since rumors for the Premier card were correct I would guess the same thing goes for this card. Here’s what we can expect from this card:
- 60,000 point sign up bonus
- Earns 5X on IHG
- No annual free night
- $29 annual fee
Guru’s Wrap-Up
Hopefully these two new cards will not fall under the 5/24 rule, similar to the current card. We do not know what will happen to current cardholders. They could be grandfathered or converted to one of these two new options. There’s also the possibility of these two new credit cards being considered new products, which would be great for those who currently have the Chase IHG card.
Let me know what you think of these two new cards!

So far we are grandfathered. I just received my free night.

will the old IHG Chase cardholders be grandfathered into the $49 annual fee?
I don’t think there’s any info yet on that
