New Chase Freedom Flex Bonus: 10% Back on Up to $12,000 Grocery Spend

Chase Freedom Flex Welcome Bonus

Chase Freedom Flex Welcome Bonus

Chase has launched a new welcome bonus for its Freedom Flex® Credit Card. New cardmembers can now earn 10% back on grocery purchases for the first year, up to maximum of $1,200 back. Check out the details below.

The Offer

  • Earn 10% Cash Back rewards total for each $1 spent on purchases in the grocery store category (excluding Walmart and Target) made within your first 12 months from account opening, or until you reach $12,000 in grocery store purchases. That’s 9% additional Cash Back rewards on top of the 1% Cash Back rewards earned on each purchase. If grocery stores is a quarterly bonus category during your first 12 months, you can earn both this 10% new cardmember bonus and the 5% quarterly bonus offers simultaneously until you reach the spend cap for each. However, because both bonuses are earned as additional Cash Back rewards on top of the 1% Cash Back rewards earned on each purchase, the most you will earn is 14% Cash Back rewards.
  • 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and balance transfers.
  • No Annual Fee
  • DIRECT LINK TO OFFER (might need to open in incognito)

  • 5% cash back on Lyft rides through March 2025.
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

Guru’s Wrap-up

Normally it doesn’t make sense to apply for Chase Freedom cards, since the welcome bonus is not very enticing. But right now you can earn 10% back on up to $12,000 in grocery spend during the first year. That’s a total of $1,200 in cash back or 120,000 Ultimate Rewards points if you also have a premium Chase credit card such as Chase Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve. Those cards now have bonuses of up to 85,000 points.
