Amex Business Platinum Employee Card Fee Going Up in June

The American Express Business Platinum card comes with a $695 annual fee, and right now you can get a great welcome bonus of up to 150,000 Membership Rewards points. The card has tons of benefits, which are extended to employee cards as well. But that depends on the type of the employee card.

You can choose between the an Employee Business Green Card which is free, Employee Business Platinum Card that comes with a $45 fee, and the Employee Business Platinum Card that currently has a $300 annual fee. The latter will soon see a fee increase, and will be $50 more expensive. This is the option that will give your employee almost all benefits enjoyed by the primary cardholder.

Amex Business Platinum Employee Card Annual Fee

• Employee Business Platinum Card:
  • $300 annual fee for each card
  • $350 for each Employee Business Platinum Card starting June 1st, 2022
• Employee Business Gold Reward Card:
  • $45 annual fee for each card (not changing)
• Employee Business Green Rewards Card:
  • No annual fee (not changing)

So the fee for the Employee Business Platinum Card is the only one going up on June 1st, 2022. If you plan on adding an Employee Platinum Card to your account you should do so before that date to save $50.

Amex Business Platinum Employee Cards Benefits

Amex Gold or Amex Green authorized user cards or employee cards do not receive the extended benefits of the Amex Business Platinum card. But these are much cheaper options, with a $45 and no fee respectively. The additional Amex Green Card especially is a good option for some huge bonuses that we have seen recently that also require adding an authorized user.

But if you want your employee, spouse or others to have most of the benefits provided by your American Express Business Platinum account, then you want them to have the Employee Business Platinum Card. That will cost you $300 a year now and $350 after June 1st.

You can earn rewards on Employee Card purchases in the same way the primary card does. Employee Card purchases will also trigger credits such as the $200 airline fee credit, or the $400 Dell credit. They also get their own Amex Offers. You can add as many as 99 employee cards to one Amex business account.
