Targeted 40K Points Offer to Upgrade to Amex Gold Card
American Express is offering some customers a bonus of 40,000 Membership Rewards points for upgrading to the Gold Card. These offers usually show for Green cardholders, but are also showing for the old discontinued Zync card.

Annual Fee
The Amex Gold card has a $250 annual fee. When you upgrade, your card anniversary date doesn’t change. You will be charged a prorated annual membership fee for your new Card based on the time remaining until your next account anniversary date.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
This is a good way to get a 40K bonus on the Amex Gold card without a hard pull on your credit report, although Amex usually does a soft pull for existing customers. You can also get this bonus if you have had the Gold card in the past.
