Amex Announces New Travel Offers, Resources & Enhanced Servicing
American Express officially announced today a number of new travel offers, resources and enhanced services to help cardmembers with their travel needs. I have covered most of these offers here on the site in recent days already.
Travel offers are becoming popular again. According to the Amex Trendex, while the current travel landscape continues to evolve, consumers’ interest in travel remains strong with more than 80% noting that they regularly think about where they are going to travel in the future and the majority (80%) ranked health and safety, flexibility, customer service and price among their top priorities for traveling. Additionally, 65% of consumers surveyed are dreaming about, researching deals for, or starting to book their next trip. Here’s a look at the offers that American Express has launched recently.
New Amex Travel Fine Hotels + Resorts Offers
Eligible U.S. Platinum Card® Members who enroll their Card in the Fine Hotels + Resorts® Amex Offer and spend $800 or more (in one or more transactions) on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings at AmexTravel.com will receive a one-time $150 statement credit, in addition to the existing suite of Fine Hotels + Resorts benefits, for travel booked by December 7, 2020. With nearly half of consumers (46%) interested in complimentary nights or property credits for lodging, U.S. Platinum Card Members can receive a complimentary night or property credit when booking an eligible stay at a selection of more than 200 participating Fine Hotels + Resorts properties through American Express Travel. Select offers are also repeatable, so eligible Card Members can receive multiple complimentary nights. Required booking dates and travel dates vary by property. Discounted Domestic Airfare for Platinum Card Members
As 40% of consumers who typically travel by plane note that they’d be comfortable traveling by plane domestically in the next three months, and 55% of consumers noting interest in discounted domestic flights, from now until December 31, 2020, American Express is providing U.S. Platinum Card Members with access to lower fares on select domestic routes and flights, with the ability to save up to 22% off the public fare. More Rewarding Stays at Marriott and Hilton Properties
Eligible Membership Rewards® enrolled Card Members can get 40% more points when they transfer Membership Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy™ or Hilton Honors points through October 31, 2020. For offer terms and to transfer points visit here.
Eligible U.S. Card Members can get a one-time $75 statement credit when they enroll their Card in the Marriott Bonvoy Amex Offer and use their Card to spend $250 or more on room rate and room charges with participating Marriott Bonvoy properties from now until December 31, 2020. More Ways to Book and Pay for Road Trips
With road trips on the rise and 63% of consumers noting they would feel comfortable taking a road trip in the next three months, soon U.S. Card Members will be able to use Membership Rewards Pay with Points for prepaid car bookings through AmexTravel.com. Additionally, American Express is providing eligible Card Members with access to series of Amex Offers on car rental services, such as Silvercar by Audi, Turo and more. Enhanced Travel Resources and Added Booking and Payment Flexibility
Nearly 3 in 5 consumers say health/safety policies and procedures (37%) or flexibility (22%) are the most important for booking travel in the future. Whether planning a last-minute getaway or thinking ahead to future travel, American Express is providing Card Members with easy to access resources and added flexibility to help them navigate travel today, including:
- Information about travel provider policies and health and safety procedures, available on the Amex Travel COVID-19 Info Hub, as well as travel tips and travel benefit details available on the new Card Member travel resource page.
- Elevated health and safety procedures in its Centurion Lounges with the new Centurion Lounge Commitment.
- Greater flexibility for Card Members to book and pay for current and future travel with the extension of American Express Travel booking and fee waivers through end of year, and the recent expansion of Pay It Plan It to all of U.S. Consumer Cards.
Personalized High-Tech & High-Touch American Express Travel Servicing
Now more than ever, travelers value the mix of high-tech and high-touch servicing to help them navigate the complexities of today’s travel environment, with nearly 8 in 10 consumers (78%) noting that they prefer to book travel online themselves but also would like to have a real person available to help if needed.
