I just received an offer from Alaska Airlines, with up to a 50% bonus when you purchase miles. The offer might vary and some people will se a maximum of a 40% bonus miles. To get the best rate you will need to purchase at least 40,000 miles.
10,000 – 19,000 miles | 20% bonus miles |
Buy 20,000 – 39,000 miles | 35% bonus miles |
Buy 40,000 – 60,000 miles | 50% bonus miles |
Miles are purchased from Points.com for a cost of $27.50 per 1,000 miles, plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax. So if you go for the maximum bonus, it will cost you 1.97 cents per mile. Anything less than that won’t really make sense for most people.
If you’re planning premium international flights, then this might be a good opportunity to add miles to your Mileage Plan account.
