100K Chase Sapphire Preferred Offer Still Available Through Referrals

Update (Oct. 18, 2021) – Old referral links are no longer working, so the online 100K bonus is now gone for good. Current referrals only have a 60,000 points bonus. The 100K offer with the waived annual fee is still available in branch for now.

Update (Oct. 7, 2021) – This 100K offer is still available through referrals for now, even though the public offer has expired. Usually Chase offers remain available for about a week longer through referrals. So if you were planning to apply, now is the time to do so.

The extra $50 credit hasn’t been available in branch for quite sometime. But I’m not sure if the no-fee part of that offer is still on option for those who have a branch nearby. Please let me know if you have tried in recent days.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card has a new offer of 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points. It’s still possible to get an additional $50 credit and have the annual fee waived if you apply in branch. But now there’s an ever better option, applying through referrals. This should be the best yet, since the person referring you can get 20,000 bonus points. Let’s see how the welcome bonus and the referrals works.

Referral Bonus

Earn Up To 100,000 Bonus Points: You can receive 20,000 bonus points for each friend you refer through this Refer-A-Friend offer (up to 5), who is approved for the card. Maximum bonus points accumulation for this offer is 100,000 bonus points per calendar year.

In the event the bonus points you earn from all referral offers exceeds the 100,000 per calendar year limit, you may be awarded a partial amount to keep your total bonus at 100,000 bonus points. For example if you have already accumulated 90,000 bonus points from refer-a-friend offers that calendar year and the maximum is 100,000 bonus points per calendar year, then the next award will be 10,000 even if the offer states 20,000. The value of this offer or program may result in miscellaneous income received from Chase and we may be required to send you, and file with the IRS, a Form 1099-MISC (Miscellaneous Income) or Form 1042-S (Foreign Person’s U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding) for the year in which you participate and are awarded the benefits of the offer/program

To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. Please allow up to 8 weeks after each new cardmember’s approval for bonus points to post to your account. Your bonus will appear on your statement as “Refer-A-Friend bonus.” You are not eligible for a referral bonus if you use your own referral URL to apply for a different card.

Eligibility

The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. This card also falls under the Chase 5/24 rule which means that if you’ve had 5 or more new credit cards in the last 24 months, your application will be declined.

Guru’s Wrap-up

This 100,000 Ultimate Rewards bonus is already the best we have seen for the Sapphire Preferred card. The points can be worth $1,250 or more when redeemed for travel, or with Pay Yourself Back.

If you apply in branch you get an extra $145 through the waived fee for the first and the $50 credit. But the additional 20,000 points that you would get through referrals are more valuable. That’s an extra $250 at least. That’s if you have a friend or family member that can refer you.
