Verizon Agrees to $100 Million Settlement

Some Verizon customers may be entitled to claim part of a $100 million proposed settlement that the wireless carrier has greed to pay to resolve a class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court of New Jersey, alleged that Verizon’s administrative fees were unfair and not adequately disclosed to customers.

The lawsuit says that after customers sign up for Verizon service, the company “uniformly charges them higher monthly rates than it advertised and promised by adding what Verizon calls an ‘Administrative Charge’ to the bill.”

Postcards were mailed out to eligible customers on Wednesday with instructions on how to file a claim. Check out all the details below and file a claim on or before April 15, 2024.

Who’s Eligible for this Settlement?

The “Settlement Class” in this case is defined as all current and former individual consumer account holders in the United States (based on account holders’ last known billing address) who received postpaid wireless or data services from Verizon and who were charged and paid an Administrative Charge and/or an Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge between January 1, 2016 and November 8, 2023.

If you received a notice of this settlement by mail or email, you are in the Settlement Class according to Verizon’s records.

  3. court-awarded attorneys’ fees and expenses of the attorneys  and any service awards granted to the Plaintiffs.

Your payment may be up to $100.00 for your account. But the final amount may vary depending on how long you were a Verizon subscriber and the number of valid claims.
