Amex Announces MR Donation Match Program to Support Ukraine
American Express will match the dollar value of Card Member contributions made using Membership Rewards points with PayPal Giving Fund to an eligible charity in support of humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine and affected parts of Europe. Eligible charities include, International Rescue Committee, the International Medical Corps, the American Red Cross, UNICEF, Save the Children & USA for UNHCR.
This news follows American Express’ previous commitments including making available one million Hilton room nights across Europe to support first responders and refugees in need, donating $1,000,000 in aid to humanitarian organizations supporting relief efforts in Ukraine and parts of Europe and matching donations from colleagues globally through the American Express Match program. Court Rules US Domestic Flight Delays Can Be Subject To EU Compensation
EU travellers who book flights through a European airline can claim compensation in the event of a major delay of the connecting flight — even outside Europe, a court ruled on Thursday. In its judgement, the European Court of Justice said that the entirety of a journey that was subject to a single reservation fell under the EU’s rules on flight delays, even if the flight was operated by a non-EU airline. The case involved a journey booked through German carrier Lufthansa for three passengers from Brussels to San Jose in California, with a stopover in Newark.
You can ride the vintage 20th Century Limited train from NYC this spring
Train buffs, prepare to book your ticket, an iconic vintage train has (briefly) returned to New York’s railroad system. Last fall, the 20th Century Limited took New Yorkers on an upstate adventure, and now the antique train is back on the tracks. Hudson River Rail Excursions is running its day trips once again this June.
