Marriott Elites Will No Longer Have Dedicated Ambassador Service

Marriott purchased Starwood in 2016 and decided to keep the Ambassador program that provides specialized service for 100 Night Elites. They get a dedicated ambassador that can take care of reservations, hotel requests and much more. Marriott changed the program a bit, requiring $20,000 in spending besides the 100 nights. Once you reach those requirements, you get a dedicated Ambassador. The requirement has actually been lowered to $14,000 now for 2021, as Marriott tries to lure back customers during the pandemic.

Marriott still says on its website that “your personal point of contact is always at your service for every stay.” But now they have sent out email to customers to let them know that they will need to reach out to a generic email from now on, instead of contacting the ambassadors directly.

Here’s the text of the email:

Going forward, please email ambassador.service@marriott.com with your requests as personal ambassador email addresses will no longer be monitored.

Guru’s Wrap-up

Having the personalized service from a dedicated ambassador, was a nice touch. Having to go through a generic email means that requests will be handled by the Marriott customer service team. It is definitely a watered down version of the service that Ambassador Elites have been receiving until now, since you will no longer have that personal and specialized service that you can get when you are in first name basis with your Ambassador. You can see all the benefits here.
