Hyatt Credit Cardmembers Migrating to World of Hyatt Credit Card

A World of Hyatt update is going into effect early next year that will impact Hyatt Credit Cardmembers. On January 11, 2021, legacy Hyatt Credit Cardmembers will migrate to the World of Hyatt Credit Card. With that change, credit card perks and benefits will also be updated. Annual fee will also increase from $75 to $95, but at least it will not kick in until August 2021.

“The World of Hyatt Credit Card was designed based on members’ feedback in wanting the ability to be rewarded for everyday purchases as well as when spending on Hyatt stays and experiences. By transitioning to the World of Hyatt Credit Card, Hyatt Credit Cardmembers too can unlock greater value in the program while enjoying the expanded card benefits – like Bonus Points day-to-day and not just stay-to-stay, more free nights and the ability to quickly achieve higher tier status,” said Amy Weinberg, senior vice president, loyalty, brand marketing and consumer insights, Hyatt. “We recognize many of our members are not traveling as often as they’re used to right now, which is why we hope transitioning to the World of Hyatt Credit Card will help those cardmembers get the most value out of their Hyatt loyalty with the expanded card benefits.”

Changes

On January 11, 2021, Hyatt Credit Cardmembers will migrate to the World of Hyatt Credit Card and start to receive the following benefits:

From Hyatt Card Benefits: To World of Hyatt Card Benefits:
  • 8 Points total per $1 spent on the card for Hyatt stays and experiences including restaurants/spas.
  • 3 Bonus Points per $1 spent with your card
  • 5 Base Points per $1 spent as a World of Hyatt member
  • 9 Points total per $1 spent on the card for Hyatt stays and experiences including restaurants/spas.
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent with your card

  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on the card for:
  • Flights purchased directly from the airline
  • Car rentals
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on the card everywhere else

  • Headspace subscription purchases
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on the card everywhere else
  • Free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort every cardmember anniversary

  • Automatic Discoverist status in World of Hyatt

  • Automatic Discoverist status in World of Hyatt and ability to accelerate to higher elite status with 5 Tier-Qualifying Night credits within 8 weeks of migrating to the World of Hyatt Card and 5 more every year thereafter
  • 2 additional Tier-Qualifying Night credits for every $5,000 in spend.

Annual fee for the World of Hyatt Credit Card is $95, compared to $75 for the Hyatt Credit Card. Migrated cardmembers will enjoy the expanded benefits without being charged the new fee until August 2021 (so any cardmember that has an anniversary before August will continue paying $75 and those after will start paying the $95 annual fee). Hyatt Credit Cardmembers will get their new World of Hyatt Credit Card starting in late January. See more details about your new World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Bonus Free Night

As a special thank you, existing Hyatt Credit Cardmembers can earn a free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel when they spend $4,000 on their card from October 27 through December 31, 2020. Cardmembers have until November 30, 2020 to register here for the promotion. Additionally, eligible Hyatt and World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers can earn extra Bonus Points on everyday purchases through December 31, 2020. This includes 5 total Bonus Points for every $1 spent on Amazon.com, and 3 total Bonus Points for every $1 spent at grocery stores, on up to $1,500 in total combined purchases each month.

More Changes

As previously announced, starting January 1, 2022, World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers’ additional Category 1-4 free night benefit for spending $15,000 will be calculated based on calendar year instead of their anniversary year. Not only does this make it easier for cardmembers to track when they receive this additional free night award, but it also aligns with the program’s structure for earning Milestone Rewards and tier status.
