Global Entry Expands To 9 More Airports By April ’17

Global Entry is expanding. The program run by Customs and Border Protection currently has kiosks for travelers arriving from abroad at 39 airports. By April 3rd you’ll see their kiosk in 9 more airports; Fairbanks, AK; Oakland, Sacramento and San Jose, CA; New Orleans, LA; Kansas City and St. Louis, MO.; Houston Hobby TX and Burlington, VT, the announcement said.

Some of these airports though, already have the Global Entry kiosks; FAI (Anchorage), OAK (Oakland), SJC (San Jose), STL (Saint Louis) and
BTV (Burlington).

The advantage of Global Entry is that you can skip past hundreds of people getting off an international flight. Global Entry members can clear customs by swiping their passport and scanning fingerprints at a kiosk, and answering several questions on a touch screen. A printed receipt tells customs officers the traveler is cleared to enter the country.

Global Entry members also belong to the Transportation Security Administration’s Precheck program for expedited screening for domestic flights.
