FNBO BucksBack, A 2% Cach Back Card Available Nationwide

First National Bank of Omaha offers a credit card with 2% unlimited cash back on all purchases. It’s called BucksBack and it is a good option for non bonused spend, similar to other 2% cash back cards.

Their rewards program is pretty straight forward. Earn 2 points (equal to 2% in cash back) for each $1.00 of Net Purchases posted to your Account. They do expire though. Points are redeemed on a first-in, first-out basis and will expire on or after the third anniversary of when they were awarded.

Points are redeemable in 2,500 point increments equaling $25. You can select from the following 3 choices on how to receive your cash back:

  • As a statement credit to the Account.
  • An ACH deposit to any checking or savings account (ABA routing number required).
  • As a check sent to you by mail.

The FNBO BucksBack card has no annual fee, but has no sign up bonus either. It comes with a low 11% variable APR, but this shouldn’t matter to most of this blog’s readers since few of you carry over a balance on your cards. It is good to know though that is you slip up, you won’t get charged absurd amounts (I did, paid about $20 on my Chase Ink recently).

This is a Visa branded credit card, which is a plus, since it’s accepted everywhere and it will also be the only issuer to be accepted at Costco soon.

Can Everyone Apply?

This card has been around for a while, but I never wrote about it previously since it was available in only a handful of states. In the application, it states that they are currently only accepting applications from the following States: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas.

However, it looks like (1, 2)everyone can apply. Just fill out your address in the application, and for the state, pick any of the states listed there. it will be automatically adjusted to your correct state during the application process.

Update: I contacted FNBO and they did confirm that you can apply from other states as well. I told them that I was in NY and their reply was “You can apply for the card.  Please note we are located in Omaha, Nebraska, so you might be outside of our footprint for this card.”

  1. I called the bank today and was told that they were not accepting applications from New Jersey. If anyone gets different advice, please advise. The Bank’s credit card information number is 888-530-3626.
