Chase Freedom Q2 2022 5% Categories Revealed
Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex are great products to have in your wallet. They have no annual fee and earn Ultimate Rewards points when you have another Chase premium card. Now the Chase Freedom bonus categories have been revealed for Q2 2022. These are not the best categories, but can still be useful.
Chase Freedom Cards
The Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards earn 1% on all purchases but also 5% on rotating quarterly bonus categories, up to a combined $1,500 in purchases. So you can earn up to $75 every quarter, if you maximize the eligible categories. You can even have more than one Freedom card. But it gets much better than that, since the cashback can be used as Ultimate Rewards points.
To do that, you need to have one of the premium or business cards from Chase. That’s Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Ink Business Preferred or Ink Business Plus. Then the points earned with your Chase Freedom cards can be converted into Ultimate Rewards points and transferred to travel partners.
Chase Freedom 5% Categories
The categories for the second quarter of 2022 have now been revealed. The new 5% categories include:
- Amazon: cardmembers have the opportunity to earn cash back on a broad mix of everyday necessities in a one-stop shop.
- Select streaming services: purchasing streaming services to keep up with the latest shows and movies can certainly add up, making this category extra rewarding for cardmembers who love to binge-watch.
- Eligible services include: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, Sling, Vudu, Fubo TV, Apple Music, Sirius XM, Pandora, Spotify, YouTube TV, HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, Showtime
You can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in these categories from April 1 to June 30, 2022. You can activate the new categories starting on March 15, 2022.

Amazon is a popular merchant. But you can also get 5% back with Amazon cards, or you can use your Chase Ink Cash card to buy Amazon gift cards at office supply stores. Don’t forget to maximize this quarter’s categories as well. You have until the end of march to spend $1,500 at:
- Grocery Stores (excluding Walmart and Target)
- eBay
If you don’t have the card, you can sign up and earn a $200 bonus cash back when you spend $500 within the first three months. Plus you get 5% cash back on gas station purchases on up to $6,000 spent in the first year. You can also product change other Chase cards, if you want to have it but don’t really want to apply for a new card, especially with the bonus being on the lower end.
