Chase Freedom 5% Categories for Q2 2023

Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex are great products to have in your wallet. They have no annual fee and earn Ultimate Rewards points when you have another Chase premium card. They also have 5% quarterly categories, which can be a good way to rack up rewards.

Now the Chase Freedom bonus categories have been revealed for Q2 2023. These are good categories, which Freedom and Freedom Flex cardholders can definitely use to earn extra points.

Chase Freedom Cards

The Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards earn 1% on all purchases but also 5% on rotating quarterly bonus categories, up to a combined $1,500 in purchases. So you can earn up to $75 every quarter, if you maximize the eligible categories. You can even have more than one Freedom card. But it gets much better than that, since the cashback can be used as Ultimate Rewards points.

To do that, you need to have one of the premium or business cards from Chase. That’s Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Ink Business Preferred or Ink Business Plus. Then the points earned with your Chase Freedom cards can be converted into Ultimate Rewards points and transferred to travel partners.

Chase Freedom 5% Categories

The categories for the first quarter of 2023 have now been revealed. The new 5% categories include:

• Lowe’s: For those looking forward to making interior or exterior spring home improvements such as flooring refreshes, bath remodels, window installations, backyard landscaping or appliance updates, cardmembers can earn cash back while tackling a wide variety of home renovations. (Eligible purchases can be made on Lowes.com and in-store)
• Amazon.com: Cardmembers who are in the market for a broad mix of items – from necessities for outdoor entertaining to spring travel essentials – can earn cash back when shopping through Amazon.com, one of the most popular online retailers.

You can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in these categories from April 1 to June 30, 2023. You can activate the new categories here, starting on March 15, 2022. Must activate by June 14, 2023.

Amazon is a popular retailer, so if you don’t have an Amazon card, this can be a useful category. Lowe’s is also popular because they sell gift cards in stores.

If you don’t have the card, you can sign up and earn a $200 bonus cash back when you spend $500 within the first three months.
