Chase Freedom Q1 2022 5% Categories Revealed

Chase Freedom and the Freedom Flex are great products to have in your wallet. They have no annual fee and earn Ultimate Rewards points when you have another Chase premium card. Now the Chase Freedom bonus categories have been revealed for Q1 2022 and I’m sure most people will be excited.

Chase Freedom Cards

The Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards earn 1% on all purchases but also 5% on rotating quarterly bonus categories, up to a combined $1,500 in purchases. So you can earn up to $75 every quarter, if you maximize the eligible categories. You can even have more than one Freedom card. But it gets much better than that, since the cashback can be used as Ultimate Rewards points.

To do that, you need to have one of the premium or business cards from Chase. That’s Chase Sapphire PreferredChase Sapphire ReserveInk Business Preferred or Ink Business Plus. Then the points earned with your Chase Freedom cards can be converted into Ultimate Rewards points and transferred to travel partners.

Chase Freedom 5% Categories

The categories for the first quarter of 2022 have now been revealed. The new 5% categories include:

  • Grocery Stores (excluding Walmart and Target)
  • eBay

You can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in these categories from January 1st through March 31, 2022. You can activate the new categories starting on December 15, 2021.

If you don’t have the card, you can sign up and earn a $200 bonus cash back when you spend $500 within the first three months. You can also product change other Chase cards, if you want to have it but don’t really want to apply for a new card, especially with the bonus being on the lower end.
