Chase Freedom Cards 5% Categories for Q3 2021 Revealed
Chase Freedom and the new Freedom Flex are great products to have in your wallet. They have no annual fee and earn Ultimate Rewards points when you have another Chase premium card. Now the Chase Freedom bonus categories have been revealed for Q2 2021 and I’m sure most people will be excited.
Chase Freedom Cards
The Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards earn 1% on all purchases but also 5% on rotating quarterly bonus categories, up to a combined $1,500 in purchases. So you can earn up to $75 every quarter, if you maximize the eligible categories. You can even have more than one Freedom card. But it gets even better than that, since the cashback can be used as Ultimate Rewards points.
To do that, you need to have one of the premium or business cards from Chase. That’s Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Ink Business Preferred or Ink Business Plus. Then the points earned with your Chase Freedom card can be converted into Ultimate Rewards points and transferred to travel partners.
Chase Freedom 5% Categories
The categories for the third quarter of 2021 have now been revealed. They should become available for registration tomorrow. The new 5% categories include:
- Grocery Stores (excluding target and Walmart)
- Select Streaming Services
You can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in these categories from July 1st through September 30, 2021.
Grocery stores are a popular category since most people need groceries and they could be a good source of gift card purchases in many locations. Don’t forget to maximize this quarter’s categories as well. You have until the end of June to spend $1,500 at:
- Gas Stations
- Home Improvement Stores
If you don’t have the card, you can sign up and earn a $200 bonus cash back when you spend $500 within the first three months. You can also convert other Chase cards to this one, if you want to have it but don’t really want to apply for a new card, especially with that low bonus. The latter is probably the best way to go about it.
