Authorized User Bonus for Amex Cards, Earn up to 20K
American Express is once again sending out emails with Authorized User bonuses. These offers are also sent out by mail, or show up online, but are still targeted. You need to have received the offer directly and it only applies to the targeted card.
Amex Platinum Card
- Add new Additional Card Members to your account through this email and earn 5,000 Membership Rewards® points after they spend $500 in eligible purchases on their Card in their first 3 months of Card Membership (limit 20,000 Membership Rewards® points).
You can add 3 authorized Platinum cards for $175 total. Then it costs $175 for each additional card. But you can also choose to add Gold cards, which are free but don’t get the perks of Platinum such as lounge access etc.
You can also try calling the number on the back of your card if you weren’t targeted directly, and ask them if they can extend you the offer. It’s not a guarantee, but you never know, you could get lucky.
Amex Blue Cash Preferred
- Add new Additional Card Members to your account through this email and earn a $25 statement credit after they spend $250 in eligible purchases on their Card in their first 3 months of Card Membership (limit four $25 statement credits).
Guru’s Wrap-Up
Great and easy bonuses, especially the one for the Platinum card. But be aware that Amex has occasionally frozen some Membership Rewards accounts after such bonuses in the past. But, if you follow the rules, then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
The only issue with these offers is that you need to add Authorized Users and that would show up as another credit card on that person’s credit report. That would be a problem for those trying to stay under 5/24.
Let me know if you are targeted.
