Amex Platinum Card Concierge, Calling In Will Soon Be the Only Option
If you have the Amex Platinum Card in your pocket, you get your very own Platinum Card Concierge service. This is one of the many perks that come with the card and worth using since you’re now paying $695 per year for the Amex Platinum Card.
Concierge is a complimentary service, for eligible Card Members. Platinum Card Concierges provide expertise on what matters to you and can assist you with finding the best restaurants or buying tickets to upcoming events. They’re good at what they do, and can often get things done, even when you’re not able to do so. You could call or email the Platinum Concierge any time with a request and an agent would soon reply and take care of things.
But now, going forward, you will only be able to reach out to a Platinum Card Concierge by phone. Email requests will no longer be honored after August 18. Here’s what American Express has detailed about the upcoming changes to TPG:
American Express prides itself on providing the world-class customer service, which is why every U.S. Consumer, Business and Corporate Platinum Card® Member has access to our Concierge. We believe that this service is most effective and efficient by phone. Therefore, as of August 18, 2021, Platinum Card Members will no longer be able to contact Concierge by email. Instead, we ask that they simply call the number on the back of their Card and say ‘Concierge.’
Amex Platinum Card Concierge
To get in touch with a Platinum Card Concierge, your only option will soon be to call the number on the back of your Card (1-800-525-3355) and select or say “Concierge” when prompted. Concierge staff typically fulfills requests at no cost to you. You are responsible for any purchase and/or shipping charges you authorize.
Keep in mind that Platinum cardholders receive a different concierge for each request. If you want a dedicated concierge, you will need to get the Amex Centurion Card.
The terms of the American Express Concierge service say that agents may perform select services at your request and on your behalf. These services are limited to purchasing of available event tickets, making of available dining or other reservations (which may include, for example, spa or golf), general travel-related inquiries, and shopping requests (which may include, for example, sending of flowers or gifts); in each case, as deemed reasonable by American Express. You are responsible for all purchases and associated taxes and fees (including, without limitation, shipping fees) that Concierge makes at your request and on your behalf.
Guru’s Wrap-up
I have not used the Platinum Card Concierge service all that often. But when I did need them to help me out, usually with restaurant reservations, I always reached out by email. That was my favorite option, as I try to avoid calling in if possible. Going forward you will have to call the number on your card and talk to a concierge directly.
