Amex Business Cards, Refer and Earn Extra 4X on Travel and Transit

American Express has launched today a limited time Refer a Business offer. Dubbed “Travel More with +4”, the promotion will run between September 29 and November 14. During this period, when a Card Member’s referral is successfully approved, they can earn +4 rewards on travel and transit purchases, on up to $20,000 in purchases, for a spend period of 3 months. Additionally, Card Members can earn their typical Membership Rewards® point or Statement Credit referral offer for that same referral, which can be as high as 30,000 Membership rewards points.

• Business Platinum Card®
• Business Gold Card
• Business Green Rewards Card

This promotion overlaps with “Member Week” which is coming in October.

Additional +4 Rewards for each dollar charged on travel purchases

Qualifying Card Members will receive an additional four (4) rewards per dollar spent on travel and transit purchases on their Card.

• Travel purchases include airfare, hotels, cruises, tours, car rentals, campgrounds, travel purchases on third party travel websites, travel purchases on amextravel.com. You will not earn additional points for purchases of timeshare properties. 
• Transit includes trains, taxicabs, rideshare services, ferries, tolls, parking, buses, and subways. 

Qualifying Card Members will receive these rewards on their Card account (for the Card referred) for three months on up to $20,000 in combined purchases, starting from the first date a qualifying referral results in an approved account. This offer may be redeemed only once.

The additional four (4) rewards will be applied to rewards categories for which eligible purchases are rewarded with cash back and Membership Rewards® Points. The following are some examples of how qualifying Card Members will earn additional rewards during the 3-month offer period:

• A Business Platinum® Card Member who typically earns, among other rewards, 5X Membership Rewards® Points on flights and prepaid hotels on amextravel.com will earn 9X points for purchases on amextravel.com (5X + additional 4 Points).
• A Plum® Card Member will earn 4% cash back on eligible travel and transit purchases during the 3-month offer period in the form of statement credits. This will be in addition to the 1.5% Early Pay Discount a Card Member may be eligible for.

The following do NOT count as purchases and will not qualify for this offer: fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of traveler’s checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, person-to-person payments, or purchases of other cash equivalents. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the additional four (4) rewards if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.
