Alaska Airlines to Introduce MVP Gold 100K Elite Status in 2022
Alaska Airlines has already announced that it will join the Oneworld alliance in March 2021. Now the carrier has also revealed that it will be offering a new top tier of elite status starting next year, the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold 100K.
Alaska Airlines has explained the new status tier in an email to members:
For members who fly 100,000 miles per year, we’re also introducing a new tier starting in 2022. This will recognize our absolute top echelon road warriors and offer perks such as increased bonus miles, top upgrade priority on Alaska flights, lounge benefits, and more. Look for more details later in 2021.
Alaska MVP Gold 100K
Alaska Airlines currently has three tiers of elite status, so MVP Gold 100K will be the fourth.
- MVP
- MVP Gold
- MVP Gold 75K
- MVP Gold 100K

As mentioned in the email, MVP Gold 100K status is earned with 100,000 elite-qualifying miles in a calendar year. There is no mention of a segment requirement, but that could be announced later on. You must fly a minimum number of segments on Alaska Airlines marketed and operated flights to earn or retain status. 2 for MVP, 4 for MVP Gold, 6 for MVP Gold 75K, and possibly 8 for MVP Gold 100K.
Alaska Airlines Status Boost
Alaska Airlines has also made it easier to earn status, through a promotion that was launched last year and then extended again this year. You can earn 50% more Mileage Plan elite-qualifying miles (EQM) on Alaska flights between now and June 30, 2021.
