Alaska Airlines Status Match Offer for Delta Elites

Alaska Status Match for Delta Elites

Alaska Status Match for Delta Elites

Alaska Airlines has an ongoing status match program for other airline frequent flyers to get matched into Mileage Plan elite status. Now for a limited time, Delta frequent flyers can get matched into Mileage Plan elite status through 2024 by applying for a status match and having an open Alaska Airlines Visa card. And, if you have Delta status through 2024, Alaska will raise your status another level.

How it Works

  1. Submit proof of your status by October 31, 2023. Use this form for SkyMiles status match requests. Your account overview page, which shows your current status and 2024 Status Progress is best.
  2. Alaska Airlines will match you to Mileage Plan status for the rest of 2023 based on the table below.
  3. You have two options to extend your status through 2024:
    • Have an open Alaska Airlines Visa card by 12/31/2023.
    • Complete a status challenge within 90 days.

To submit your current frequent flyer status, sign in to your account online or through the app for that airline. Take a screenshot of your account and upload it below. Be sure your screenshot includes the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your current status
  • Your miles flown year-to-date or miles flown the prior year to earn elite status

Alaska Airlines Cardholders

Members approved for a status match via the above offer that have an open Alaska Airlines Visa credit card by December 31, 2023 will have their matched elite status extended for the 2024 program year (January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024).

Cardholders with a matched status end date of December 31, 2024, will also be awarded one tier higher than their matched status for the 2024 program year. For example, if you are awarded a status match to MVP Gold via the above offer, and your equivalent Delta Gold Medallion status has an end date of December 31, 2024, and you have an open Alaska Airlines Visa credit card as of December 31, 2023, you’ll be upgraded to MVP Gold 75K status starting January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024, as long as you continue to hold an open Alaska Airlines Visa card through December 31, 2024.

For new accounts, please allow 2-3 weeks after card approval for your status to be upgraded to the next tier.

No Card? No Problem

To keep your new status without having an Alaska Airlines Visa card, keep earning miles by flying Alaska during the initial 90-day period corresponding to each level below. Only flights sold and operated by Alaska Airlines count toward your new status.

  • MVP status — fly 5,000 miles on Alaska
  • MVP Gold status — fly 10,000 miles on Alaska
  • MVP Gold 75K status — fly 20,000 miles on Alaska

Once you have earned the miles needed to maintain your status, you’ll keep it through December 31, 2024.

Guru’s Wrap-up

This offer from Alaska Airlines comes as Delta Air Lines made it harder to earn status with the airline in 2024. Going forward, only Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) count toward its loyalty program. Before Delta changed the rules just over a week ago, you could earn elite status with a combination of MQDs, Medallion Qualification Segments (MQS), and Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs).
