You can now activate the Q2 offer for the Discover it credit card. During the second quarter of this year you can earn 5% Cashback Bonus at Grocery Stores from April 1–June 30, 2018, on up to $1,500 in purchases.
You can now see and activate the offer here. It shouldn’t be a problem maximizing the spending for the fourth quarter for most people.
As a reminder, right now you earn 5% on Gas Stations & Wholesale Clubs during the first quarter, until March 31st.
If you don’t have the Discover It card, you can sign up and get a $100 bonus, and double cashback for the first year of card membership. All cash back is doubled, even the 5% quarter bonuses.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
It should be easy to maximize the Q2 5% category at Grocery Stores, whether by purchasing groceries or gift cards. If you don’t have this card, then you can check the best credit cards to use at grocery stores. Make sure you maximize this quarter’s bonus as well.

FYI to all ~ Neighborhood market owned by WalMart do NOT qualify as grocery stores under Discover Q2. I have verified this via SM with Discover.
btw, Danny, do you know if the Discover Miles card is churnable such that if we got it in the past, earned doubles the first year and closed card, if we apply again, are we going to get (another) doubles the first year of this new Miles account?
IME, when I converted the Open Road account to DiscoverIT, I got doubles on the 13th statement after conversion. I’m wondering if we can get doubles again after closing Discover Miles after the first year since this card cannot be converted to DiscoverIT according to the rep.
Thank you Mimi. I’m not familiar with neighborhood markets owned by WalMart. That’s good to know.
As for Discover I think they re churnable, but I’m not 100% sure. I haven’t tested it myself yet either.
WM Neighborhood markets usually code as grocery stores, supermarkets with Visa/MC/Amex but lately, it’s been hit and miss so that even if you see the MCC code as grocery stores, supermarkets, there are times purchases don’t qualify for cat bonus for grocery stores. This is TRUE for Chase so don’t use your Freedom cards at Neighborhood Markets since they will NOT qualify for Q2 5% bonus.
