SunTrust Bank has extended a checking account bonus that can net you up to $500. There’s two different bonuses, depending on which account you open. Offer is available only in a few states.

Bonus Requirements

The requirements are the same, regardless which account you pick:

1. Deposit at least $100 within 14 days of account opening;
2. Complete qualifying Direct Deposits within 60 days of account opening
   • Select Checking accounts, at least $1,000 must be deposited for $250 Bonus
   • Signature Advantage accounts, at least $2,000 must be deposited for $500 Bonus
3. Make at least 10 debit card purchases within 60 days of account opening.

Reward will be credited to the new checking account up to 8 weeks after all qualifications are met

Fees

All three accounts come with fees:

• Select Checking – $15 Monthly Fee. Waived with follwing:
  • Make $2,000 or more in total qualifying Direct Deposits OR
  • Keep a $2,000 minimum daily Select Checking balance OR
  • Maintain $10,000 total combined relationship balances OR
  • Hold a SunTrust First Mortgage with SurePay OR
  • Hold a Linked Small Business Checking account
• Signature Advantage – $25 Monthly Fee. Waived with follwing:
  • Maintain $25,000 in total deposit balances

If you do get charged a fee, remember to always ask for a refund at least for the first charge.

Eligibility

Current customers or customers who closed a personal checking account within 180 days of the promotion start date will not be eligible for the promotion.

These bonuses are better than the offers that expired yesterday and some of the best bonuses out there for checking account.

The highest bonus of $500 requires you to keep $25K which is a large amount. But even if you keep the account open for 6 months and pay the fee, you still come out better than the $250 bonus. Or you can try downgrading or closing the account earlier and pay the closing fee. This account does have an optional Delta SkyMiles World Debit Card with an annual fee of $75. It earns 5,000 bonus miles after first purchase and 1 mile for every $1 spent up to $4K monthly.

The Select Checking account is also a good option since it only requires a $2K balance
