Get Companion Pass and 30K Points with One Southwest Credit Card
Back in January of 2019, we saw an excellent offer for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus card. You could get a Companion Pass and 30,000 points as part of the welcome bonus on the card. Now that same offer is available again, but this time it is targeted. Keep an eye out for mail from Chase or Southwest, emails or even check your accounts to see if you get lucky.

This is a targeted offer for the Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Card:
- Earn 30,000 points and a Companion Pass valid through 2/28/2022 after you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months.
- $69 annual fee (not waived the first year)

Application Rules
The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Cardmembers of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card and Employee Credit Card products.
These cards are also subject to the Chase 5/24 rule.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
Companion Pass is one of the best deals in air travel. Every time you pay for a flight or book an award fare, your companion can fly with you for free. There’s no limit on how many flights your free companion can come along. You just need to pay taxes and fees for the free ticket. You can also change your companion up to three times a year.
While getting the Companion Pass with just one card is usually a great opportunity, right now you could probably do better with the public offers. For 2021, Southwest is giving all Rapid Rewards Members a “boost” of 15,000 tier qualifying points and 10 flight credits toward A-List and A-List Preferred status, and 25,000 Companion Pass qualifying points and 25 flight credits toward Companion Pass status. That means that you only need to earn another 100,000 qualifying points to get the Companion Pass. You need a total of 125,000 points.
You get really close to it with just one credit card right now. Once you are done with the $10K spending requirement, you will have a total of 90,000 Rapid Rewards points, so you would just need 10,000 more points to get the Companion Pass through the end of 2022. The Southwest Performance Business Card has an even bigger bonus of 100K Rapid Rewards points, but the spending requirement is a total of $30K.
