Southwest Business Cards Have New Lifetime Language
Just a few days ago I wrote about Chase possibly introducing a 3/24 rule for business credit cards. And now there’s an even stricter rule when it comes to Southwest business cards.
The terms on both Southwest business cards has a lifetime restriction. That includes the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Card and Southwest Rapid Rewards Performance Business Card.
Here’s the new language:
“The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you have ever had this card. We may also consider factors pertinent to your business in determining your bonus eligibility.”
The new wording says the bonus may not be available if you have ever had that specific card, replacing the previous language that generally allowed another bonus after 24 months. At least it’s not a clear cut lifetime restriction, as Chase says that you “may” not be eligible.
The restriction applies separately to each Southwest business card. So someone who previously had the Premier Business card could still qualify for the Performance Business card, and vice versa.
It’s also worth noting that application links on the Southwest website still show the old 24-month language, while the new wording app[ears on the Chase website.

This is a big change for those chasing the Southwest Companion Pass, since business card bonuses are often used alongside a personal Southwest card bonus to reach the required qualifying points. If these new rules are strictly enforced, it will be difficult to requalify.
