Retention Offers for No-Fee Amex Cards

Many credit cards come with an annual fee. When it’s time to pay that fee, it is usually a good idea to call up your issuer and ask if there are any offers available to offset the annual fee. Banks want you to keep their card in your wallet so they often offer a spending bonus or just a flat statement credit for keeping the card another year.

But something interesting was posted on reddit today. A retention offer was reported for the American Express Blue Business Plus credit card. This is a no fee card that earns 2X Membership Rewards points for all purchases.

User CericRushmore was offered $50 credit and $100 more after spending $2,000 on the card. I also received another reports of an offer for $100 credit and $200 more after spending $2,000 on the card. Membership Rewards offers also seem possible. The offers were provided via the chat feature.

I’m not sure if these offers would be possible for other no-fee Amex cards, but if you have the Amex Blue Business Plus card it is definitely worth a try.
