Australian airline Qantas has a new way to let loyal travelers grab some discounted first class tickets. The airline has registered itself as a host on the accommodation website Airbnb and has ‘disguised’ upgraded seats as $20 listings. This Qantas Airbnb promo includes several destinations for those looking for a stylish upgrade for travel to London, Los Angeles or Hong Kong.
Those hoping to land themselves a first-class or business seat should check out $20 listings on Airbnb as well as those that come with descriptions offering ‘unparalleled views of the clouds’. Like many Airbnb listings, the “properties” come with house rules, such as “no pets,” “no smoking, parties, or events,” and “check-in time is flexible”.
Once you find a listing though, you need to purchase these first class tickets with Qantas points. If you don’t have those, you’re in luck. Today Qantas was added as an American Express Membership Rewards partner.
How many points will premium class travel cost? Well two first class seats from Melbourne to Los Angeles for example is available for 50,000 points. These seats are normally redeemed for 144,000 per seat. Two business class seats from Sydney to London can be ‘purchased’ for 50,000 points. These usually go for 128,000 each. So clearly this Qantas Airbnb promo is a great bargain.
“Our business and first class suites have all the hallmarks of a typical Airbnb house with comfortable beds, movies, quality cooked meals and experienced friendly hosts.
“We know our members love to redeem their points on travel, so we’re excited to be able to give them new ways to access these rewards,” Qantas Loyalty CEO, Olivia Wirth told Business Insider.
