[Dead] New Plastiq Promo, 1.5% Fee for Mastercard Payments

Update 4/29/2019: This was apparently a promotion targeted at specific users and shouldn’t have been working for everyone. Fee should be back up to 2.5% for most people.

Plastiq has a new promotion, with a discount on the processing fee for paying bills with a Mastercard credit card. Instead of the regular 2.5% fee, you will only get charged 1.5% with this Plastiq Mastercard promo.

Pay a fee of just 1.5% when you pay bill on Plastiq with Mastercard. Not sure when this promotion expires. Plastiq hasn’t sent out a notice as they usually do, but Doctor of Credit posted about this promotion, after being alerted from a reader. Maybe Plastiq will send out more details about the promotion in the following days.

Plastiq is a service that lets you pay bills with a credit card. You can pay your rent, mortgage or any other bill that you have, either by check or ACH. They charge fees for using a credit card, but sometimes they have promotions like this one, which make it worthwhile. Even paying the full fee of 2.5% makes sense sometimes if you need to complete minimum spending requirements in a hurry.

If you’ve never tried Plastiq you can sign up through my referral and you get $500 in fee-free spending. That means that you can pay any bill up to $500 with a credit card with no fee.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

A pretty good promotion for payments made with a Mastercard credit card. You are paying a 1.5% fee, instead of the regular fee of 2.5%. So with a card that earns at least 2% you would come out ahead. You can also take advantage of this promotion for any spending requirements that you might have for signup bonuses. Some examples would be the Barclays Arrival Plus card that earn 2.1X or Citi Double Cash that earns 2%.
