People’s United Bank, $100 Checking Bonus

People’s United Bank is offering a $100 bonus for opening a personal checking account. The offer is not available online. You must visit their locations within Stop & Shop stores before 2/2/16. There’s no coupon or promo code necessary.

Open e Plus Checking account with a minimum of $25, which has no monthly fees, complete the requirement (see below) and the $100 will deposit by 11/20/2015.

To receive the bonus you must complete one of the following requirements:

  • Receive at least one direct deposit of at least $100 into the new checking account within 60 days of account opening (PayPal and Square payments are specifically excluded in the terms)
  • Obtain a debit card that is linked to your new account and then use the debit card to make at least 10 purchases of $25+ each within 60 days of account opening

Reward will be credited to your account by 4/29/16 if your account is open and in good standing. There’s a limit of one reward per household.

It is a bit of a hassle to have to go in branch, but you can receive $100 with some easy requirements. Considering that there’s no monthly fees and no minimum balance, makes this a no-brainer if you have a branch nearby (check here). They have branches in Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine and New York, but the flyer I picked up at my local Stop & Shop says that the offer is available in New York and Connecticut only. Let me know if you see it other states as well.

You’re not eligible if you had this checking account in the past 180 days.
