M&T Bank is still offering a $150 bonus for opening a new checking account. The offer is available till 3/31/2016 6/30/2016. It’s a great bonus with easy requirements and the $150 posts on the same day as your $100 direct deposit requirement. But you probably know this since I already covered the bonus.
One thing that isn’t very clear from the terms is if this bonus is churnable. In other words, if you can get the bonus again, or how long you have to wait to get it again. The terms just say “this offer is valid on new accounts”. So it looks like if you open a new account, then you get the bonus.
I tested it out and apparently you’re able to get the bonus again. I’m not sure how long you have to wait exactly after closing the previous account, but I closed my account mid October and opened a new one in mid January, less than three months after. I received the bonus both times.
So if you’ve already received the bonus and closed the account, you might want to go for it again. I’d suggest waiting at least 2-3 months.
