MGM Rewards and World of Hyatt Will End Relationship on September 30

Here’s some bad news to give you a break from all your Prime Day shopping. The relationship between MGM Rewards and World of Hyatt is ending effective September 30, 2023.

What that means is that World of Hyatt members will no longer be able to make new reservations at participating MGM Rewards destinations in Las Vegas through Hyatt channels (e.g., Hyatt.com, Hyatt Global Care Center, or the World of Hyatt mobile application) on or after September 30, 2023.

All existing reservations and any reservations made prior to September 30, 2023 at participating MGM Rewards destinations in Las Vegas booked through Hyatt channels will be honored. However, World of Hyatt points and World of Hyatt Tier-Qualifying Nights will not be earned for stays with checkout dates after September 30, 2023.

Similarly, MGM Rewards members will no longer be able to elect to earn MGM Rewards Tier Credits for dollars spent at Hyatt hotels and resorts for stays with checkout dates after September 30, 2023.

MGM Rewards members who have tier matched into World of Hyatt between March 1, 2023 and July 14, 2023 will retain their World of Hyatt tier status through February 29, 2024. World of Hyatt members who have tier matched into MGM Rewards between February 1, 2023 and July 14, 2023 will retain their MGM Rewards tier status through January 31, 2024.

“Through our relationship, we have each learned a great deal and have enjoyed how our members embraced both programs,” MGM Resort said in a statement said. “We recognize our guests’ and members’ desire for strategic relationships that enrich their travel experiences, and will continue to evolve our programs to best care for that need.”

  1. fingers crossed MGM is switching to Marriott. MGM just bought the Cosmopolitan and that hotel a Marriott Autograph Collection property so there is some relationship already.
