Marriott Free Night Awards and Points Expiration Pause Extended Again
Good new for Marriott Bonvoy members. You will have until January 2022 to use up your expiring free night awards. So if you are not ready to travel just yet, you will have an extra five months to decide where to stay, and how to get the most value out of those free nights. Points expiration is also paused through march of 2022 now. The information was posted on Facebook Marriott Insiders Group, and is also on the Marriott website. You can also find the details below.
We wanted you to know we’ve heard your feedback and have now extended the time you have to use your eligible Free Night Awards AND the date for Points Expiration to give you more flexibility and more time to redeem. Here are the details:
Eligible Free Night Awards redemption has been extended to January 3, 2022.
Effective May 7th, 2021 members who currently have a Free Night Award that has an original expiration date in 2020, or which will expire before January 2, 2022, as part of their cobrand credit card benefit, annual choice benefit, promotions or travel package will be able to redeem it through January 3, 2022. Free Night Awards with an original expiration date prior to 2020 will not be eligible for the additional extension. Certain hotels have resort fees: marrbnvy.com/FNA
Points Expiration is now paused until March 31, 2022.
At that time, your points will only expire if your account has been inactive for at least 24 months: marrbnvy.com/PointsExpiration. This is obviously great news for Marriott Bonvoy members in general and especially those who have free night awards. You no longer need to rush to decide where to burn them, which usually means that you will not get the best value possible. Now you can plan a stay throughout the whole summer, and even fall and early winter.
