Marriott Bonvoy Soft Landing for Elites
Marriott Bonvoy will extend a soft landing to Elite Marriott Bonvoy members who did not re-achieve Elite status in 2025. In other words, Elite members who are not able to maintain the same Elite status in 2025, will be downgraded only one tier next year.
The qualification period for Marriott Bonvoy elite status is based on calendar year. In January 2026, all Members will have their 2025 loyalty activity evaluated.
- In January 2026, Members who achieved their existing Elite Status again in 2025 were renewed in their current status through February 2027.
- In early March 2026, Members who did not re-achieve their existing Elite Status were offered one tier below their current status through February 2027. Members can see their new status in March 2026 and enjoy that new status through February 2027.
- Members who achieved a higher Elite Status during 2025 already have a status expiration date of February 2027.
The the soft landing works as follows for those who did not re-achieve their existing Elite status:
- Ambassador members will get Titanium status through February 2027.
- Titanium members will get Platinum status through February 2027.
- Platinum members will get Gold status through February 2027.
- Gold members will get Silver status through February 2027.
This is valuable especially for some of the top Elites such as Ambassador and Titanium members. They will drop to Titanium and Platinum respectively. That means that they will be able to enjoy some valuable perks such as free breakfast, lounge access and more.
It’s also worth noting that you will never experience an Elite Status below your current Lifetime level. However, if you have a current Elite Status level above your Lifetime Elite tier, you must meet the annual renewal requirements for that Elite tier in order to retain it.
