IHG Rewards Club Testing New Pay with Points Program
IHG Rewards Club is piloting a new program called Pay with Points, where users will be able to pay for anything from a drink at the bar to relaxing day at the spa using their IHG Rewards Club points.
IHG Rewards Club is one of the first hotel loyalty programs to allow guests to easily redeem rewards points from the comfort of their room during their stay. IHG Rewards Club members can use their TV system (via IHG Studio) or the mobile site (ihgrewardsclub.com/paywithpoints) to redeem points, whether for F&B, experiences, or for their room rate, with Pay with Points. At that site you can already check what value you get for your points. Look slike you can redeem 200 IHG points for $1. But you ened to redeem for a full dollar, and anything in between gets a lesser value. So 300 points will still be $1 for example, but 400 points get you $2. Decent value, but not great. Could be useful for those who have a few points left.
As of today, the in-room IHG Studio prototype is live at two locations, Crowne Plaza Atlanta at Ravinia and Hotel Indigo Alexandria. The mobile site experience is live at InterContinental Barclay New York. Similar experiences will be live in the coming weeks at InterContinental Buckhead and Holiday Inn Atlanta Airport South, with more rolling out in 2020.
