IHG Extends Free Night Certificates
With everyone canceling travel plans, Free Night Certificates are difficult to use up within the expiration date. So IHG is taking steps to change that by extending the expiration.
The hotel chain is extending the expiration date on Free Night Certificates for some members by six months, but with a small catch. You will need to call in and ask for the extension. This will not be done automatically, at least for now.
A positive move from IHG but during these times they should just go ahead and extend all certificates. Also a six month extension is probably not be enough, especially for certificates that expire soon. Hilton has already extended free night certificates though the end of next summer, and Marriott through January.
Let us know if you are affected by this, and if you have success calling in.
