Hyatt Place Long Island City In NYC, Book For 8K Points/Night

A new Hyatt Place in New York City has opened its doors and it’s being classified as a category 2 hotel. You can now book a award nights for just 8,000 Points at Hyatt Place Long Island City / New York City. The paid Member Discount rate per night is $198 and it will cost $229.67 total after taxes and fees.

Hyatt Place Long Island City

This is a new hotel and I have never stayed there obviously but I have seen it go up every time I drive by the area. The main catch here is that the hotel is not in Manhattan, but it Long Island City in the borough of Queens.

That shouldn’t discourage you much, because the hotel is just a short subway ride from Manhattan. You can take the E, M or R lines from Queens Plaza to Midtown or the 7 line to Grand Central, Bryant Park and Times Square. You can also take the NYC Ferry for just $2.75, the same price of a ride on the subway.

Even if you’re not in the mood to take a subway ride, Long Island City is one of the best areas in the borough of Queens. The Museum of Modern Art is just a few blocks away. If you walk down Jackson Ave or 5-6 blocks to Vernon Blvd, you’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants. And just two blocks further is the waterfront Gantry Plaza State Park, with great views of the city and the iconic Pepsi-Cola sign.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

This could be a very affordable way to visit NYC, as far as accommodations are concerned. Hotels in in NYC are usually very expensive as probably most of you know already, and being able to book for just 8K points is a great deal. You’re getting a value of almost 3 cents per point. Yes, you’re sacrificing a bit on location, but it’s a good trade-off in my opinion since Long Island City has lots to offer. I’m surprised this Hyatt Place is only a Category 2 and that might not last long, so take advantage now if NYC is in your travel plans.
