DoorDash Launches Grocery Delivery Service, Offers $15 Discount on First Order

DoorDash Launches Grocery Delivery Service

DoorDash is the most popular service in the country for food delivery. DoorDash earned 46% of U.S. consumers’ meal delivery sales in July, with Uber Eats coming second at just over 23%. But DoorDash is still looking to expand. Recently they added the option of deliveries from convenient stores and now they are getting into the grocery delivery game.

DoorDash is partnering with regional grocers across the country, including Smart & Final, Meijer and Fresh Thyme, to offer on-demand grocery delivery. D’agostino, Gristedes and Hy-Vee will join the platform in the coming weeks.

“This latest announcement by DoorDash is another tool that allows our customers timely access to the fresh offerings that we provide at Hy-Vee,” said Tom Crocker, Hy-Vee’s senior vice president, e-commerce. “In today’s ever-changing environment, customers want quality products delivered in an efficient manner straight to their homes. This new service helps us grow our grocery business while meeting the needs of our shoppers who are on-the-go.”

And if you want to order ready to heat, or ready to eat meals, you can order through the DoorDash app from Wegmans, Hy-Vee, Gelson’s, Kowalski’s, Big Y World Class Markets, Food City, Village Supermarkets, Save Mart, Lucky, Lucky California, Coborn’s, and more.

“We promise to ‘make great meals easy,’ and it doesn’t get any easier than this,” says Erica Tickle, Wegmans eCommerce Director. “What’s unique about Wegmans Meals 2GO is the variety of delicious menu options. Since teaming up with DoorDash last year, we listened and learned, and fine-tuned a menu that has something for everyone at home or at work. We’re excited to expand our partnership with DoorDash by bringing our restaurant-quality meals to the DoorDash Marketplace.”

For now the options are limited to the coverage area of these chains, but as more stores are added, 75 million Americans will soon have access to a grocery store on DoorDash. If you don’t have a DoorDash account, you can sign up now to receive $5 off your first three orders.

All of these grocery partners are also available for DashPass members, which means that they are eligible for unlimited free delivery fees and reduced service fees. That service costs $9.99 per month. Chase cardholders get DoorDash benefits such as free DashPass and $60 DoorDash credit.

To get your groceries in under an hour, look for a banner at the top of the DoorDash app to discover grocery stores offering delivery near you. DoorDash has also enabled contactless delivery to ensure a safe and seamless experience for every customer. And during the week of August 24th, new and existing DashPass members get $15 off your next order from all grocery and convenience stores. That is part of the ‘Summer of DashPass Deals‘ promotion.
