A Delta Airlines flight from New York to Los Angeles has once again been delayed by almost a whole day. Delta Flight 975, which was supposed to take off Thursday at 3:30 p.m., was delayed by more than 19 1/2 hours and didn’t leave John F. Kennedy International Airport until 11:07 a.m. Friday.
There’s a reason why you might think you’ve read this before. It happened just one day before. Delta 975 on Wednesday was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and didn’t get off the ground until 10:01 a.m. on Thursday. That was a 19 hour delay.
“Delta apologizes to customers on flight 975 operating from New York-JFK to Los Angeles, which was delayed Thursday night due to crew availability and weather affecting the Northeast airspace,” Said a Delta Representative on Friday.
Customers were offered water and snacks, pillows and blankets in the terminal before the flight departed, but no hotel vouchers for the overnight stay. Many passengers, including children and elderly people, were forced to spend the night sleeping on the floor. Some people were offered a $100 travel voucher and 5,000 Delta SkyMiles for their troubles.
