5/24 Rule
Chase won’t approve you for some cards if you’ve applied for more than five new cards in the last two years and the Chase Sapphire Preferred card falls under that 5/24 rule. These targeted offers sent by mail or email, do not bypass the 5/24 rule, so even if you did receive the offer, you need to be under 5/24.

This is the highest bonus we have ever seen for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. You get 50,000 points when you spend $4,000 and then 30,000 more if you can spend a total of $20,000 within a year. So you’re basically getting 30K points for 16K spend after the initial bonus. That’s almost and extra 2X Ultimate Rewards on all your spending, which is a great earning rate.
The bonus is worth at least $1,000 when redeemed for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards. But you can do even better if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card that gives you a value of 1.5 cents per point, or if you transfer to travel partners.
